Northeast of Boise is the Sawtooths, Danskin Mountains and Bennett Mountain. This photo was taken at Anderson Ranch Reservoir, 2,500 feet above the reservoir in July. The landscape is dominated by Douglas fir and ponderosa pine on the north facing slopes and valleys intermixed with high elevation shrub steppe. Artemisia tridentata var. vaseyana (mountain big sagebrush), Elymus cinereus (Great Basin wildrye), and patches of Prunus virginiana (chokecherry) are shown in the foreground of the photo.
