A similar looking Eriogonum- Eriogonum heracleoides grows at slightly lower elevations than
this species, but the two can also be found growing in the same area- such was the case where this
photo was taken. The flowers of the two species are the same color and size, but the leaves of
Eriogonum umbellatum var. subalpinum are wider at midlength and spoon-shaped while Eriogonum
heracleoides leaves are more linear.
