Flowers:

flowers solitary, white tepals; anthers 4 to 5 mm; stigma shortly 5 lobed; perianth and peduncle hairy


Fruit:

a blue berry, 6 to 10 mm


Leaves:

2 to 3 broad leaves per plant, 7 to 15 cm long


Plant:

rhizomatous


Habitat:

shaded conifer forest, often where moist, foothills to middle elevations


Distribution of species:

Alaska to California, from the coast to Montana, Idaho, and Oregon
