Flowers:

racemes open; 5 sepals nearly equal, pale blue to lavender; petals white and prominently lined with purplish black

fusiform thickened; often easily detatched from stem


Leaves:

alternate; palmately divided into 3-7 segments; mostly cauline leaves


Plant:

10-50 cm tall; mostly single stemmed, not fistulose


Habitat:

plants of sagebrush desert to mountain valleys and slopes
