Flowers:

solitary and terminal; corolla white to pinkish, cordate at base; outer petals widely spreading and slightly recurved, inner petals generally purplish tipped and 12-15 mm


Leaves:

all basal; more or less ternately decompound


Plant:

perennial; 3-7 cm tall; scapose


Habitat:

well drained soil, foothills to subalpine slopes


Distribution of species:

in the Cascades, Washington to California, east to Idaho, Wyoming and Utah


Distribution of genus:
