Flowers:

heads radiate; rays 10 to 25 per head, yellow, 6-10 mm; outer involucre bracts scarcely or less evidently margined; anthers more or less entire at their base; receptacle more or less flat


Seeds:

achene more or less flattened; pappus double, the inner of capilary generally unequal and often sorid bristles, the outer of short coarse bristles or scales


Leaves:

lowest leaves reduced and often deciduous

perennial; hairy

open dry places
