Flowers:

few to many flowers in open cymes or panicles; ligules white


Fruit:

2 to 3 mm, red-brown


Leaves:

alternate; entire to few toothed, reduced upward; coarsely long-hairy, stellate hairs lacking


Plant:

4 to 8 dm tall, lower plant densely hairy


Habitat:

dry forests

Alaska to California, east to Colorado
