tepals yellow-orange to reddish-orange, stongly reflexed, 3-6 cm/P>

Leaves:

whorled, lanceolate leaves


Plant:

Corms eaten after steaming or boiling by the Okanagan-Colville, Okanagon, Shuswap, and Thompson. It ws also dried and stored for future use.


Habitat:

prairies, thickets, and conifer forest up to 6,000 ft


Distribution of species:

British Columbia to northern California, east to Idaho and Nevada


Distribution of genus:

more or less 90 species: northern temperate regions, and tropical mountains of east Asia
