Flowers:

flowers 3 to 5.5 cm; corolla axillary, more or less bilabate; calyx 1.5 to 2.5 cm, strongly five angled, hairy, calyx lobes equal; pedicel generally greater than calyx, 30 to 70 mm


Leaves:

2 to 7 cm; palmately 3 to 5 veined; generally clasping at base; oblong to elliptic


Plant:

perennial; erect plants 25 to 100 cm tall; viscid-villous


Habitat:

middle to upper elevations


Distribution of species:

western Canada to northern California, Montana, Wyoming, and Utah


Distribution of genus:

more or less 100 species: western North America, Chile, eastern Asia, southern Africa, New Zealand and Australia
