Flowers: inflorescence umbel-like, scapose, open; perianth turbinate, deep blue to light blue, mostly 18-30 mm; filaments flat, several times as broad as thick, unequal lengths |

Leaves: generally 3-5, linear and long, glabrous Plant: perennial; scapose. Bulbs eaten for food by the Okanagan-Colville, Okanagon, and Thompson (Lytton Band and Spences Bridge). |

Habitat: both sides of the Cascades, coastal bluffs and prairies to sagebrush desert and lower hills |

Distribution of species: southwest British Columbia south through Puget Trough and Willamette Valley to southwest Oregon, up the Columbia River Gorge to the east base of the Cascades from Chelan and Grant Counties to Gillian County, Oregon Distribution of genus: 13 species: Coastal western U.S., especially in Northern California
